Police arrest four for using Wike’s name in ₦150m land scam

Four men have been arrested by the police in Abuja for allegedly impersonating officials linked to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to defraud a retired senior military officer and other victims of over N150 million.

The prime suspect, Yashim Kajang, was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, for allegedly deceiving a retired Major General, A.K. Ibrahim, and others under the guise of facilitating land transactions in Guzape II Cadastral Zone in Abuja. Kajang, who resides in Kurudu, was said to have falsely claimed connections with the FCT Minister and officials in the Lands Department, convincing victims to pay large sums for land documents tied to Plot 1985 and other parcels.

Police investigations revealed that Kajang allegedly collected over N150 million from the victims with promises of securing three hectares of land and processing valid documentation.

However, the deals were later discovered to be fraudulent.
During interrogation, Kajang reportedly named three accomplices—Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both linked to the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA), as well as Terngu Ipaven of Durumi 2, Abuja. He alleged that they provided him with insider information and land data used to execute the scam.

All four suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities say further action will be taken upon conclusion of the inquiry.
