Dokubo denies viral video, says critic is his brother

Asari Dokubo has dismissed claims that he is the man seen in a viral video criticising Bola Tinubu over the country’s economic hardship.

The video which circulated widely on social media, shows a man bearing a strong resemblance to Dokubo, dancing and calling on the president to step down amid rising hunger, fuel prices, and cost of living.

Many online users quickly concluded that the speaker was Dokubo, a known ally of Tinubu.

However, reacting in a separate clip, Dokubo clarified that the individual in the video is not him but his brother, identified as Theophilus.

According to him, while they share similar physical features, they are from different parts of the Niger Delta.
“I’m not the one in the video. He is my brother, Theophilus. He is from Bayelsa state, while I’m from Rivers state. He is from Nembe, and I’m from Kalabari,” he said.

Dokubo added that despite the confusion, his support for Tinubu remains unchanged.

“As for me, Tinubu remains my friend, no matter what he does,” he stated, urging Nigerians to stop mistaking him for the man in the footage.
