The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 10 suspected vandals in separate operations across Abuja.

The suspects were arrested in Kubwa, Wuye and around the National Mosque area while allegedly vandalising public infrastructure, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.

The command said a patrol team from the Kubwa Division, while conducting routine patrol around Bazango-Kubwa at about 6pm on September 2, 2026, spotted five persons allegedly vandalising armoured cables.

They were identified as Goodname Oriarebun, 29; Timothy Donald, 28; Ayo Buli, 26; Emmanuel Elijah, 28; and Christian David, 28.

In a separate operation, officers from the Wuye Division arrested Moses Luka, who was allegedly caught digging out armoured cables along the road linking Magic Land and the National Stadium.

The police also disclosed that a surveillance team from the Wuse Division arrested four other suspects around the National Mosque after they allegedly cut down a solar-powered streetlight in an attempt to remove and steal its components.

The suspects were identified as Musa Abdullahi, Suleiman Idris, Aliyu Isa and Muhammed Abdulrahman.

The FCT Police Command said investigations were ongoing to track down other members of the alleged vandalism syndicates, including those suspected of receiving stolen public infrastructure.

“All suspects remain in Police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, commended the officers involved in the operations for their vigilance and prompt intervention.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical public infrastructure and tackling vandalism across the Federal Capital Territory.
