ADC suspends Ogun chairman Femi Soluade after no-confidence vote

The Ogun State Executive Committee (SEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its State Chairman, Dr Femi Soluade, following a unanimous vote of no-confidence.

The decision was taken at a duly convened SEC meeting held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the party’s state secretariat. Party leaders said the committee deliberated extensively on multiple allegations against Soluade before resolving to place him on immediate suspension pending further investigations.

According to the SEC, the vote of no confidence was unanimously endorsed by all members present, including Local Government chairmen, reflecting what the party described as a collective position across state and grassroots leadership.

A major trigger for the action was an incident on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ibara, Abeokuta where a peaceful gathering was underway for the public declaration of the governorship ambition of . The SEC alleged that Soluade arrived at the venue with armed thugs, disrupted the event, and caused chaos.

The committee condemned the incident, stating that such conduct—if established after due investigation—would amount to a serious breach of party discipline and a threat to public peace.

To ensure continuity, the SEC appointed the Deputy State Chairman, Prince Adedeji Abiodun, to act as State Chairman pending the outcome of the probe.

A Disciplinary Committee has also been constituted with a 14-day mandate to investigate all allegations, including the Ibara incident, and submit findings and recommendations to the SEC, in line with the party constitution.

The party assured members and the public that due process would be followed and urged supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. The development was confirmed in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olumide Onabanjo.
