Three hospitals in the Alor area of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state were sealed on Wednesday.
The State Ministry of Health accused the affected medical facilities of operating with fake licences and unqualified health workers.
Led by the team of Doctor Chukwulobelu Ugochukwu, Head of Medical Services Department in the ministry, the team warned locals not to do business with illegitimate facilities but preferably go to government established medical centers.
“The hospitals were shut by Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Team for operating without a licence, forged licence, unqualified staff or in an unhygienic environment according to the management.
“We also discovered some uncertified health workers, who treat patients and perform medical procedures only to leave the country when complications arise,” state officials said.
“We, therefore, call on community stakeholders, religious bodies and individuals to show interest in activities in their localities, especially health.
“They should also report to the ministry any suspected facility or shops involved in quackery to assist in saving millions of lives and contributing to the health sector of the state,” he said as he further adding that the state will continue to monitor the health facilities to weed out nonprofessionals who only want to make money.
