The All Progressives Congress has disqualified 47 aspirants from participating in its senatorial primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the screening exercise was carried out by the party’s screening committees in line with established guidelines and procedures.
Among those not cleared are serving senators Benson Agadaga of Bayelsa East, Garba Maidoki of Kebbi South, and Banigo Ipalibo representing Rivers West. Former senators Ben Murray-Bruce and Usman Wowo were also affected.
Other notable aspirants barred from the race include former Rivers Secretary to the State Government Tamunobaabo Danagogo, former presidential aspirant Tein Jack-Rich, and former ONSA official Ojukaye Amachree.
In Oyo State, Ajimobi Wasiu Adegboyega, Kolapoboye Daisi, and Ademola Alli were also listed among those disqualified.
The affected aspirants come from several states including Adamawa, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Oyo, Plateau, Kebbi, and Zamfara.
The APC did not disclose the reasons behind the disqualifications. The party has scheduled its senate primary election for May 18 ahead of the 2027 polls.
