The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to a reported shooting incident involving ADC members in Edo State, describing the claims as baseless and premature.
In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the opposition party acted irresponsibly by accusing it before the conclusion of any police investigation.
The ADC had, in a February 25, 2026 statement, alleged that the ruling party was responsible for the shooting. However, the APC dismissed the claim as “delusional,” accusing the ADC of disregarding due process and attempting to manipulate public sentiment.
The ruling party argued that drawing conclusions before law enforcement agencies complete their investigation undermines the rule of law. It maintained that the ADC’s accusations portray the party as assuming the roles of accuser, investigator, prosecutor and judge in the matter.
While condemning violence in the political space, the APC called on security agencies to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation into the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
The party also urged investigators to scrutinise internal disputes within the ADC, alleging that the opposition party has been plagued by factional leadership struggles and reported clashes among its members.
The APC insisted it had no involvement in the shooting and said it remains focused on governance and consolidating recent electoral successes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rivers and Kano states.
Reaffirming its commitment to national development, the party expressed appreciation to voters for what it described as growing support and a vote of confidence in its leadership and that of President Bola Tinubu.
The APC maintained that it remains committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria
