APC unveils detailed timetable, fees for 2027 primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised and comprehensive timetable for its activities ahead of the 2027 General Elections, outlining key dates for primaries, screening, appeals, and the sale of nomination forms.

The party said the revised schedule aligns with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the document signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the process began on April 20, 2026, with the issuance of a notice of election to state chapters.

The sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms is scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, while the deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is May 4, 2026.

Screening of aspirants across all categories—State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, and Presidential—will take place between May 6 and May 8, with the publication of screening results set for May 9.

Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard between May 11 and May 13.

The timetable indicates that party primaries will be conducted in phases: House of Representatives primaries on May 15, Senate on May 18, State House of Assembly on May 20, and Governorship on May 21. The presidential primary is scheduled for May 23, while election appeals will conclude on May 25, 2026.

In addition to the timetable, the APC also released the cost of nomination forms for various elective positions. Aspirants for State House of Assembly are to pay a total of ₦6 million, while House of Representatives forms cost ₦11 million. Senate aspirants are expected to pay ₦20 million, governorship aspirants ₦50 million, and presidential hopefuls ₦100 million.

The party noted that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will enjoy a concession, paying only for the Expression of Interest form and 50 per cent of the nomination fee.

It added that all payments must be made directly into designated party bank accounts, urging aspirants to comply strictly with the guidelines.

The APC said the revised timetable is part of efforts to ensure a transparent, orderly, and credible process as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
