President Bola Tinubu has called on security agents to go after gunmen who invaded communities in Plateau state, leaving at least 100 people dead.
The president also ordered humanitarian agencies to supply relief to the wounded and displaced.
This was disclosed in a statement on Boxing Day by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity.
“President Bola Tinubu strongly condemns the heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives”, the statement said.
“President Tinubu directs security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.
“The president directs immediate mobilization of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.”
Tinubu condoled the government and people of Plateau, assuring Nigerians that “these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice.”
Over the holidays, gunmen invaded some communities leaving trails of deaths and destruction properties.

There have been attacks and counter attacks in the state over several years with all sides to the conflict claiming to be victims.
