Atiku slams Tinubu for staying abroad amid insecurity

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu for remaining in Europe despite the rising insecurity in Nigeria. Tinubu departed Nigeria for France on April 2 on a two-week “working visit” and later traveled to London.

Atiku’s Concerns
Abubakar expressed concerns over the president’s prolonged stay abroad, citing instances of political leaders cutting short their trips to attend to urgent matters back home. He stated that the Tinubu administration has proven to be “utterly incapable, wholly incompetent, and completely devoid of any coherent ideas for tackling Nigeria’s deepening security crisis.”

Leadership Demands Presence
Abubakar emphasized that leadership demands presence, citing examples of world leaders who have returned home during times of crisis. “Nigeria is bleeding. Nigerians are dying. The president is nowhere to be found,” he said.

Call for Action
The former vice-president called on Tinubu to show empathy and pretend to care about the plight of Nigerians. “If Tinubu cannot deliver safety and dignity to Nigerians, the very least he can do is pretend to care,” Abubakar said.
