Atiku visits Aregbesola amid growing opposition coalition efforts ahead of 2027 elections

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar recently visited Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of Osun State, at his residence. In a video shared on his X handle on Friday, Abubakar is seen driving into Aregbesola’s home, where the former governor warmly welcomed him as he stepped out of his car.

The pair, accompanied by their supporters, then walked into the house together. Abubakar captioned the video, “Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola.”

Aregbesola had been expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun last January due to alleged anti-party activities. This visit is notable as opposition politicians ramp up coalition efforts in anticipation of the 2027 general election.

Additionally, Abubakar attended a ceremony in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, where he was present for the coronation of Clement Adesuyi as the paramount ruler of Ijesaland.

Reports indicate that opposition leaders, including Abubakar, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Nasir el-Rufai from the Social Democratic Party, are finalizing arrangements to adopt the African Democratic Party (ADC) as a unified platform to confront the APC in the upcoming elections.
