The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Prof Yilwatda Nentawe, as the substantive National Chairman of the ruling party.

The announcement was made during the ongoing 14th NEC meeting at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, moved the motion for Nentawe’s appointment, which was promptly seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Prof Nentawe was immediately sworn in following the endorsement.
