Former President Muhammadu Buhari has been laid to rest at his residence in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.

The body, which departed the United Kingdom earlier on Tuesday, was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina by President Bola Tinubu.

As reported, the remains were first taken to the residence for immediate family members and close relatives to bid their final farewell. Following this poignant moment at the residence, Buhari’s body was conveyed to the prayer ground for further tributes.

President Tinubu arrived at the airport from Abuja at 1:42 p.m. and inspected a guard of honour before the Nigerian Air Force plane carrying the remains of his predecessor landed at exactly 1:51 p.m.

Former President Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital.
