The Department of State Services (DSS) has seized Godwin Emefiele’s travel documents, and is set to search his residence and offices.
Suspended and detained over the weekend, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor is being investigated for reportedly mishandling the apex bank’s subsidiary, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending, and the Anchor Borrowers Programme.
Confirming the development and investigation, a source said it is standard to hold Emefiele’s travel documents until the investigation is over.
The source added that his residence and office would be searched as part of the probe for records that could help the current investigation into his administration of the CBN.
According to reports, the DSS may reevaluate the criminal allegations it previously brought against Emefiele, which are related to fraud and financing terrorism.
Newspread also earlier reported that former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, had tweeted to corroborate these charges.
