In the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr and as a continuation of a deeply rooted legacy of compassion and generosity, the member representing Ijebu North State Constituency I, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, at the weekend, distributed food items and cash gifts to thousands of constituents in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.
The outreach, which took place at the Kashamu family compound in Egbe Subaru, Oke Sopen, Ijebu Igbo, witnessed a massive turnout as beneficiaries from across the constituency thronged the venue to receive the goodwill packages. The initiative, according to some beneficiaries, reflects not only the lawmaker’s connection with his people but also his commitment to putting smiles on the faces of the people.
The atmosphere was one of gratitude and celebration, as men, women and youths expressed appreciation for what many described as a timely and impactful intervention.
Hon. Kashamu, while addressing newsmen after the distribution, noted that the gesture was inspired by the lessons of sacrifice, compassion and generosity that define the Eid season. He emphasised the importance of sharing with others, particularly in challenging economic times, adding that leadership must go beyond representation to include genuine care for the welfare of the people.
He reiterated his resolve to sustain and build upon the philanthropic legacy of his father, the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, whose name remains synonymous with philanthropy and grassroots empowerment across the country.
“This is more than a seasonal gesture; it is a responsibility we owe our people,” he said. “My father believed strongly in lifting others and it is a legacy I am committed to preserving and expanding.”
Community leaders and beneficiaries commended the lawmaker for his consistency and accessibility, describing him as a representative who understands the needs of his constituents and continues to demonstrate empathy through action.
The Eid outreach is one of several initiatives undertaken by Hon. Kashamu in improving the living conditions of people within Ijebu North State Constituency I, further reinforcing his image as a people-oriented leader dedicated to inclusive development.
