‘Enough with the music!’ — Remi Tinubu cuts off Adeleke’s singing during Ooni’s anniversary

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Sunday interrupted Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during an unexpected singing episode at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The incident, now trending across social media, unfolded as Adeleke mounted the podium to honour the monarch and congratulate Mrs. Tinubu on her new chieftaincy title, Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.

Rather than proceed with his remarks, the governor — famously dubbed the “Dancing Governor” — slipped into a lively musical chant, drawing laughter from parts of the audience.

Mrs. Tinubu initially approached him gently, urging: “Go ahead.”
But as she returned to her seat, Adeleke resumed singing, prompting the first lady to intervene more firmly.

Enough with the music, or I’ll switch off the microphone. You have five minutes,” she said, sparking murmurs and surprised reactions across the venue.

The governor eventually continued with his formal speech, while the brief exchange quickly dominated online conversations. Nigerians remain split, with some calling the moment lighthearted and others seeing it as a reminder of decorum at a royal ceremony.

Neither Adeleke nor the first lady’s office has issued an official statement beyond what was captured in the viral clip.
