A member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.
The development comes shortly after Faleke picked the APC presidential nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pointing to early political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party sources indicated that the lawmaker paid N50 million for the Lagos governorship forms on behalf of Hamzat, fueling speculation about the Deputy Governor’s interest in succeeding to the state’s top office.
Although Hamzat has yet to formally declare his intention to run, the move is being seen by observers as a sign of increasing momentum around his potential candidacy.
The development is expected to heighten political activity within the Lagos APC as aspirants and stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the party’s primaries.
Party officials have reiterated that all aspirants will be given a fair opportunity to contest in line with party rules and the electoral framework guiding the 2027 elections.
