Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed reports that his ambassadorial posting to Germany was rejected.
The Peoples Gazette had claimed that German authorities objected to his appointment due to his “erratic behaviour” and previous controversial remarks, describing them as “divisive ethnocentric, tribalistic, and religious comments” that could destabilize Nigeria. The report also suggested a possible reassignment to South Africa.
Responding on X, Fani-Kayode called the story “fake news” and affirmed his readiness to serve. He wrote: “Fake news everywhere 🤣. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not I will serve my country! Keep crying!”
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved Fani-Kayode’s posting as ambassador-designate to Germany.
