First lady thanks Nigerians as education fund raises ₦25.52bn for national library

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that the Oluremi @65 Education Fund raised a total of N25.52 billion in donations to support the construction of the National Library.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Senator Tinubu expressed appreciation to Nigerians, friends, family members, and well-wishers who contributed to the fund, which was launched to mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025.

She said the overwhelming support demonstrated a shared national commitment to education, knowledge preservation, and sustainable development. According to her, the goodwill generated by the initiative has been deeply encouraging and reflective of unity of purpose among Nigerians.

The First Lady also announced the closure of the Oluremi @65 Education Fund donation account, effective December 31, 2025. She noted that the project is being supervised by the Honourable Minister of Education and that any further contributions toward the National Library should be made through the Ministry of Education.

Providing a financial update, Senator Tinubu disclosed that as of the closing date, a total sum of N25,520,708,074.35 had been donated to the fund.

She thanked all contributors for supporting what she described as a worthy national cause and extended her best wishes to Nigerians and their families for a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
