Chief Willie Obiano, the former Governor of Anambra State, has broken his silence following rumors of his death that had circulated earlier this week. “I woke to hear of a rumor making the rounds about my wellbeing. Let me assure you personally: I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health,” Obiano stated. “By the special grace of God, I am doing very well.”
The former governor also expressed his gratitude to those who had reached out to him during the period of uncertainty, acknowledging their concern and well-wishes.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals still find joy in spreading falsehood simply for reasons yet to be established. But we will continue to rise above such mischief,” Obiano added, urging his followers to disregard the rumors.
The statement comes amid a wave of confusion and concern that began with a report earlier this week claiming Obiano had died in London following complications from a prolonged battle with severe heart failure and urinary cancer. A senior family source had confirmed to SaharaReporters that while Obiano’s health had been deteriorating in recent months, his death came as a shock to his family, and medical sources in London confirmed he had been in intensive care before his condition worsened.
“He fought till the very last moment,” a hospital insider had told SaharaReporters, describing Obiano’s final days as a “courageous struggle.”
Despite the earlier reports of his passing, Obiano’s personal statement has put the rumors to rest and reassured his supporters.
