Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt, paving the way for the newly appointed Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (rtd).
Fubara left the seat of power on Wednesday morning, accompanied by his family and security details.
As of now, security at the Government House remains sparse with only two Armoured Personnel Carriers and a handful of security operatives present.
Despite the political developments, normal activities continue uninterrupted in Port Harcourt and its environs.
Preparations are underway to receive Vice Admiral Ibas, who is expected to assume office soon.
About 15 soldiers were spotted inside the Government House premises, ahead of his arrival.
This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, citing pipeline vandalism and the ongoing political crisis.
The president suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, and lawmakers for six months, sparking widespread debate about the constitutionality of the move.
