Turkish champions Galatasaray have officially signed Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a staggering €75 million, setting a new record for the highest transfer fee ever paid by a Turkish club.
The 26-year-old forward was instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A title triumph in 2023, spending last season on loan at Galatasaray where he scored an impressive 26 goals in 30 league appearances, playing a key role in the club’s 25th Super Lig victory.
Osimhen’s absence from Napoli’s pre-season training earlier this week signaled an approaching move, as final negotiations were concluding. Although he returned to Italy with the Scudetto winners, Osimhen was not part of manager Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming season, prompting Galatasaray to act quickly to secure his permanent transfer.
Negotiations between the two clubs lasted several weeks due to disagreements over the payment structure, but a breakthrough was achieved on Thursday, allowing the deal to be finalized.
With this transfer, Osimhen becomes Galatasaray’s most expensive signing in history, eclipsing all previous records for Turkish clubs. In the wake of this monumental transfer, Napoli has strengthened their squad by acquiring Belgian midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
