Gbajabiamila remains chief of staff, presidency says

The Presidency has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency described the claim as a “viral falsehood” with no basis in fact.

According to the statement, Gbajabiamila remains firmly in his position as Chief of Staff to the President, while Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his role as Principal Private Secretary. It stressed that no changes have been made to either office.

The Presidency accused “mischievous purveyors of fake news” of fabricating the story with the intention of creating disharmony within the government, and urged Nigerians to disregard the report entirely.

It also advised media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing unconfirmed claims.

The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga and dated December 25, 2025.
