British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital following the road accident that claimed the lives of two young men, Lateef Ayodele and Cina Ghami, on December 29, 2025.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the Lagos and Ogun State governments said Joshua was released late in the afternoon after doctors confirmed he was clinically fit to continue recuperation at home. The statement noted that the boxer remains deeply heartbroken and emotionally affected by the loss of his two close friends.

The governments expressed renewed condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for the repose of their souls and strength for their loved ones to bear the painful loss.

According to the statement, Anthony Joshua and his mother visited a funeral home in Lagos on Wednesday afternoon to pay their final respects as preparations were made for the repatriation of the remains later in the evening.

They further expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for what they described as his fatherly support throughout the period.
