Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), the newly appointed Administrator of Rivers State, has pledged to work with all stakeholders to maintain law and order in the state.
Ibas made this commitment while addressing State House correspondents after his swearing-in ceremony by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday.
Ibas emphasized that restoring peace, order, security, and stability is the utmost task for meaningful activities to take place in Rivers State. He acknowledged the circumstances leading to the state of emergency declared by President Tinubu and expressed his determination to work collaboratively to address the challenges.
Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday, citing the lingering political crisis. Ibas was appointed as Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for an initial period of six months.
With his extensive experience in the Nigerian Navy and as a former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibas is expected to bring stability and security to the state.
