The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has put the brakes on the recall petition against Senator Natasha Akpoti due to incomplete contact information provided by the petitioners.

According to INEC, the petitioners only supplied the lead petitioner’s phone number and an incomplete address, “Okene, Kogi State”, which falls short of the requirements outlined in Clause 1(f).

Despite garnering an impressive 474,554 signatures from 902 polling units, the petition will remain on hold until the petitioners provide the necessary contact details.

INEC has urged the public to disregard speculation circulating on social media and awaits the completion of the petitioners’ information to proceed with the verification process using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
