The Presidency has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s allegations of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation involving unsubstantiated financial dealings with Lagos State.
The former VP had claimed in a statement issued by his media adviser, Paul Ibe that the EFCC investigation was to link him with campaign funding from Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In a statement on Friday, Special Adviser to the President Bayo Onanuga described Atiku’s claims as false, baseless, and distracting.
The Presidency emphasized that President Bola Tinubu remains focused on addressing national challenges and advancing his administration’s agenda.
It urged Atiku to redirect his energy toward initiatives that foster unity, economic progress, and democratic stability.
The statement also defended the EFCC’s independence, stating that it operates within its statutory mandate without external influence.
The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and national development.
