It’s official: Plateau governor Mutfwang resigns from PDP

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the need for a new political direction.

In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area, Mutfwang announced his decision to quit the party with immediate effect.

The letter, which was acknowledged by ward officials including Mr. Dasjak Sunday and Longyol, the Ward Chairman, expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him a platform to participate in the democratic process. The governor also appreciated the support of party leaders, members, and supporters during his time in the party.

According to Mutfwang, his decision was driven by “the realities of the moment” and his commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery, which he said necessitated seeking an alternative political platform.

He concluded the letter by offering assurances of his highest regards to the party leadership.
