Kwankwaso sets conditions for rejoining APC: A call for respect and recognition

Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has outlined specific terms for any potential return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at an event in his Kano residence, Kwankwaso emphasized that any political alliance must honor the interests of his party and political movement.

Reflecting on past experiences, the former two-term governor expressed concerns about being “used and dumped” after their involvement in founding the APC. He stated, “Those calling on us to join APC, we have agreed to join the APC but on clear agreement that protects and respects the interest of my party, NNPP, and my political movement, Kwankwasiyya. We have gubernatorial and senatorial candidates and a significant presence in each state.”

Kwankwaso insists that the NNPP will only consider rejoining the APC under strong conditions that ensure their values are upheld. He noted, “We will not allow anyone to use us and later dump us. We are not in a hurry to leave the NNPP; we are enjoying peace of mind. If a political alliance can promise us that we won’t face disappointment as in the past, we’re open to discussions—even with the PDP if they acknowledge their past mistakes.”
