The Ogun state police have arrested Adeyemi Babatunde, a 28-year-old man, for allegedly defiling his five-year-old daughter.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday said the suspect who was arrested after the victim’s mother lodged a complain at its Ijebu-Mushin divisional headquarters has already confessed to the crime.
Oyeyemi said the victim’s mother told the police that asides noticing her daughter’s groans whenever she touches her private part while bathing her, her daughter has also been complaining of pains whenever she wanted to urinate.
He said after observing this for some time, the victim’s mother pressurised her daughter to tell her what happened to her private part.
The PPRO said: “It was then the victim informed her that her father laid her on the bed and inserted her manhood into her private part when the mother was not at home.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ijebu Mushin division, CSP Simire Hillary, quickly detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was eventually arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but claimed not to know what came over him as at that time.
“The Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.”
