NAF clarifies: C-130 made ‘precautionary landing’ in Burkina Faso after technical concern

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that one of its C-130 transport aircraft made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, during a ferry mission to Portugal on Monday, 8 December 2025.

According to a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the aircraft had departed Lagos for Portugal when the crew detected a technical concern mid-flight. In line with standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols, the pilots diverted to the nearest airfield to ensure the safety of both crew and aircraft.

The NAF reported that all crew members are safe and have received warm and professional support from Burkinabe authorities.

The Air Force also disclosed that plans are underway to resume the mission as initially scheduled.

The statement reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to strict adherence to operational guidelines and aviation safety standards, emphasizing its dedication to safeguarding personnel while carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
