Femi Babafemi, the Director, Media and Advocacy, National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while giving the agency’s weekly report on Sunday revealed its operatives arrested a fake female security agent, two Ghanaians and other drug peddlers.
The 34-year-old lady, identified as Ogedengbe Dorcas was arrested on Thursday at Ajegunle, Asa Dam Area of Ilorin, Kwara State with 30kg of Cannabis.
Acting on credible intelligence on Tuesday, officers of the Marine Command of the agency around Alfa Beach, Lekki, arrested two Ghanaians Monday Saba, aged 30 and Hakeem Kwana, aged 27, found with imported illicit substance weighing 2,910kg in a boat from Ghana.
Again, operatives of the agency, acting on a tip off on Monday, laid ambush along Epe-Lekki expressway and intercepted a white truck conveying illicit substance weighing 2,434.1kg concealed in 50 jumbo bags while the truck driver escaped.
32-year-old Abubakar Mohammed and 43-year-old Nuhu Sale, were arrested along Abuja expressway, Suleja by Niger state command with skunk weighing 517kg, hidden in 31 jumbo bags.
Another female, 30-year-old Amina Alilu was arrested on Wednesday by operatives in Kogi State at at Ogbogodo village, Dekina LGA of the state with 171kg of illicit substance while one 42-year-old Olajide was arrested on Saturday in Oyo State with 49.2kg of skunk.
In Edo state, NDLEA operatives raided the Ekudo forest located at Uhunmwode LGA and destroyed a cannabis farm measuring 2.494863 hectares and seized processed weeds weighing 67kg.
Suspects arrested during the Monday morning forest raid are Onyeka Onyedinma, Monday Onyedi, Alex Eboh, Edosa Imariagbe, Godbless Tunde and Godstime Osarobo.
The Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa has commended his officers and charged them not to rest on their oars.
