NDLEA seizes 7.6 million tramadol pills, 76,273kg of hemp in raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out a series of intelligence-led operations across multiple states, leading to the seizure of more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and 76,273.4 kilograms of various cannabis strains, including Colorado, Loud, and Skunk. Several members of drug trafficking networks linked to the massive hauls were also arrested.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, 7 December 2025, by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency recorded major breakthroughs in Delta, Imo, Adamawa, Ekiti, Ondo, Niger, Kano, Lagos, Edo and the FCT.

Major Seizures Across States

A warehouse at Oko Market in Asaba, Delta State, yielded 3,874,000 pills of tramadol (225mg and 100mg) and 252.2 litres of codeine syrup on Saturday, 6 December.
Similarly, NDLEA operatives in Imo State intercepted a vehicle transporting 1.2 million tablets of tramadol 225mg, arresting a 35-year-old suspect, Kelechi Nwakocha.

In Adamawa State, officers stopped a Toyota Hiace bus loaded with 1,577,112 capsules of tramadol and Exol-5, concealed inside jumbo bags mixed with new sandals. Two suspects, Kabiru Buba (25) and Hamza Abubakar (32), were arrested. Another suspect, Mudansir Rabiu (27), was caught with 197,000 Exol-5 pills along the Zaria–Kano road.

Cannabis Warehouses Destroyed in Ekiti, Ondo Forests

A special operations unit raided forests in Omuo-Ekiti, destroying 14,654kg of skunk and arresting two suspects. Another raid in Asin-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, led to the destruction of 54,300kg of skunk stored in two large warehouses, with an additional 28.3kg recovered for prosecution.

In Ondo State, operatives raided Igoba Forest, Akure North, recovering 2,483 compressed blocks and 247 bags of skunk weighing 5,442kg, and arresting five suspects.

More Arrests and Recoveries Nationwide

  • Niger State: 500kg of skunk recovered from a Mercedes-Benz van; driver Amos Yakubu (46) arrested.
  • FCT, Abuja: 22kg of Colorado seized; follow-up operation at Jabi Park led to the arrest of a female receiver, Ali Blessing (33). Another suspect, Aliyu Usman (39), was arrested along Kwali–Gwagwalada road with 24kg of skunk and 573,500 Exol-5 pills.
  • Lagos:
    • 113kg of Canadian Loud recovered from Ezenwa Udoka at Ladipo Market.
    • 351kg of skunk seized from Izuchukwu Usulor in Onipanu.
    • 104.1kg recovered from Susan Okoro at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.
  • Edo State:
    • 447.5kg of skunk recovered from two cars at Agho Forest; suspect Dada Adedara Babawibi (56) arrested.
    • A raid in Isiefve community led to the seizure of 315.8kg of skunk and arrest of Stanley Obasuwa.

WADA Sensitization Continues

The NDLEA also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, delivering sensitization lectures in schools, worship centres, and communities across several states, including Kano, Benue, and Rivers.

Marwa Commends Officers

NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended officers across the affected commands for their efforts, noting that their successes reflect a balanced approach to reducing both drug supply and demand.

The operations represent one of the agency’s largest coordinated anti-narcotics actions in 2025.
