Obi: Kwankwaso won’t be a figurehead, will be equal partner in NDC govt

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has pledged to run an inclusive government with his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing the former Kano State governor as an equal partner rather than a ceremonial vice president.

Speaking at the NDC national convention in Abuja on Saturday, Obi said his administration would depart from the tradition of relegating vice presidents to the background, stressing that major decisions would be taken jointly through consultation and partnership.

According to Obi, Kwankwaso shares his vision for a more equitable Nigeria, with strong commitments to education, security, and national development. He said the partnership reflects their collective determination to build a country where opportunities are available to all citizens regardless of background.

The former Anambra State governor formally unveiled Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, assuring party supporters that their ticket would prioritize inclusiveness, accountability, and effective governance.
