Obi tells NDC aspirants to accept primary results

Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on all aspirants who participated in the party’s recently concluded primaries to accept the results and work together to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the NDC’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Obi stressed that while competition is a normal part of democracy, post-primary grievances should not distract members from the party’s broader goal of providing credible leadership for Nigeria.

He described the party’s rapid growth as remarkable, noting that within about 90 days of its formation, the NDC successfully conducted congresses, conventions, and primary elections.

Obi urged members to move beyond internal contests and focus on building a political movement capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges. He also announced plans for a nationwide consultation tour to engage party members and citizens directly across the country.

According to him, the party is aware of the nation’s challenges, including insecurity, poor infrastructure, weaknesses in healthcare and education, but detailed policy positions would be unveiled during the official campaign period.

He emphasized that unity, discipline, and sacrifice would be crucial to the party’s success.

Also speaking, NDC National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson praised members for keeping the party united despite predictions that it would collapse shortly after its formation. He encouraged aggrieved aspirants to embrace reconciliation and remain committed to the party’s long-term vision.

NDC National Chairman Moses Cleopas described the party’s emergence and rapid expansion as extraordinary, attributing its progress to the commitment of members and what he called divine guidance. He commended aspirants and party supporters for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the primary process.
