Former Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okowa, who was Atiku Abubakar’s Vice Presidential candidate in the 2023 Presidential Election, did not disclose his next destination but hinted that he will reveal details of his new path in due time.
Speculations on Okowa’s Next Move
Political observers believe that Okowa may likely join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection comes after Bode George, a PDP stalwart, disclosed that some prominent PDP members were planning to leave the party.
Recent Defections in Delta State
The development follows the recent defection of Senator Ned Nwoko from Delta North Senatorial District to the APC. There are also speculations that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori may be considering a similar move, although the governor has denied such claims.
