Paystack has dismissed its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, days after a wave of sexual-misconduct allegations resurfaced online and triggered an internal probe by the company’s Board.

Olubi, who co-founded the fintech giant in 2015, announced his removal in a statement on Saturday, saying he was fired while the company’s promised investigation was still underway.

He alleged that Paystack terminated his employment “before the supposed investigation was concluded, and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity for me to respond,” calling the process a violation of the company’s own procedures. Olubi added that he had complied fully with every request from the Board.

The allegations, driven by old social-media posts and claims from a former associate, reignited public debate last week and pushed Paystack to commit to an “independent” review of the accusations.

Olubi said his legal team is currently evaluating the circumstances of his dismissal. He offered no further details.

Paystack has not issued any new public statement on the matter, even as the company—one of Africa’s leading payment processors and a strategic partner of Stripe—faces mounting scrutiny over its handling of the controversy and the abrupt exit of a founding executive.
