A high-powered delegation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, recently visited the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
The delegation received a warm welcome from INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, along with National Commissioners, senior aides, and key directors of the Commission.
The purpose of this significant visit was to engage directly with INEC on pressing internal matters affecting the PDP, particularly those needing regulatory clarification from the Commission. In his opening remarks, Professor Yakubu reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to its statutory responsibilities, emphasizing, “Our role is to ensure that the rules are followed.”
Following formalities, the meeting moved into a closed-door session, where PDP leadership and INEC officials are expected to have in-depth discussions and work towards mutual understanding on critical electoral issues affecting the party.
