Plateau governor Mutfwang officially joins APC, receives membership card in Tinubu-branded attire

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), receiving his party membership card at the Yakubu Gowon Hall, Plateau Government House. The governor completed the registration in attire adorned with the symbol of President Bola Tinubu, signaling his alignment with the ruling party at the federal level.

Following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on 29 December 2025, Mutfwang had earlier been announced by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as joining the party, but his membership registration was only formalized on Friday.

The governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, confirmed that Mutfwang was officially registered at 11 a.m. at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, where he received his membership card.

In his resignation letter to the ward chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area, Mutfwang stated: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.” He explained that the move was guided by a commitment to “purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery.”

Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing a platform to pursue his political career and thanked party members and supporters for their loyalty.

Explaining his decision to join the APC, the governor said it was in the interest of Plateau State, emphasizing that alignment with the ruling federal party would help accelerate development and deliver greater dividends of democracy to residents. He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and the removal of barriers that hinder collective growth and sustainable development in the state.

The registration, highlighted by the Tinubu-themed attire, underscores Mutfwang’s new political direction and his intent to collaborate closely with the federal government for the progress of Plateau State.
