A 50-year-old Ukamaka Udeugbo was apprehended by the Anambra police following a now widely circulated video showing her hitting her aged mother of 75 years.
The assault which was caught on camera, took place in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area. The victim’s mother was the target of the attack after she was accused of urinating in the home.
Meanwhile, the clip, which has received a lot of social media attention, has been criticised by several people.
Udeugbo has been arrested and will face charges, according to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command noted.
Ikenga said that Abagana Division officials also intervened to save the elderly woman who was being brutally mistreated by another woman in Umudunu village, Abagana. The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has received her.
The spokesperson added that in the viral video clip, the suspect, was revealed to be the victim’s biological daughter. The suspect has been apprehended for prosecution after repeatedly flogging the elderly woman in her nakedness and dumping buckets of water on her as she lay on the ground.
