Men of Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Kaduna State command have confiscated a truck with stolen rail tracks. They have also began a manhunt for the vandals.
According to a Monday statement by ASP Mohammed Jalige, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the vandals who committed the crime on Thursday, fled the scene on sighting the police.
Jalinge said the police had received credible information from residents of Sanzwan, Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State, hinting them of the crime which was ongoing at that moment, in their community.
He said the residents alleged that some hoodlums who came with a DAF truck, were in their community, vandalising and carting the rail track slippers into the truck.
The PPRO said on receipt of the information, the police quickly mobilized and stormed the community, causing the vandals to flee, and abandoned their truck.
He said at the scene of the crime, the police recovered a truck with reg no DAL 172 YL, which has now been confisticated, and over 600 pieces of vandalized railway slippers.
Without stating what parts of the state, Jalinge further disclosed that on Sunday, two additional trucks fully loaded with railway slippers were equally recovered.
The state Police spokesperson said though no arrest has been made, the police have began investigations and efforts have been put in place to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
