Gbenga Fajuyi, an Inspector of Police serving with the Niger state police command has bagged 22 years in jail for killing his newborn grand child he fathered through his 13-year-old daughter.
The 47-year-old inspector of Police was sentenced on Thursday by a Senior Magistrate Court, sitting in Minna, the state capital.
Christy Barau, the Senior Magistrate, who presided over the matter said the convict, who ought to have protected the victim as a father and adult, destroyed her innocence and put her in adulthood.
The displeased judge described officer Fajuyi as a monster, said the convict was an irresponsible father, who not only impregnated his teenage underaged daughter, but went further to kill his grandchild the incest produced.
Magistrate Barau found the officer guilty of three-count charge bordering on unlawful sexual intercourse, incest, criminal intimidation and murder.
She said the three-count charge contravened section 18 subsection 2 of Niger State Child Right Law 2010, section 390, 25 subsection ), and 397 B of the penal code and sentenced the guilty officer to 22 years in prison, without an option of fine.
