Moses Paul, an Inspector with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Kaduna State command, who attempted to kill his colleague, Simnawa Paul has been arrested by the state police.
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Jalinge revealed the incident happened on June 16, at Kafanchan, Jemaa Local Government Area of the state.
Jalige explained that following cries by the victim, the accused was caught red-handed by two witnesses, using a rope to strangle his colleague at their duty post at the Police Mobile Force Base of Squadron 62 Kafanchan.
The two witnesses who are also police officers, immediately swung into action, rescued the victim, untied the rope from the victim’s neck and arrested the suspect.
The command spokesperson further disclosed that the suspect confessed his main aim of committing the crime was so he can freely steal his colleague’s riffle.
Jalinge said a through and full scale investigation would be carried out, and at the end of it, the cause of action will be revealed.
He said if found guilty, the suspect who is in detention, will be made to face both disciplinary and legal actions.
