Power restoration continued across parts of the country on Thursday afternoon following a widespread midday outage, with several electricity distribution companies (DisCos) beginning to receive load and restore supply to homes and businesses.
A restoration report issued at 4:07 p.m. on January 23, 2026, showed that Eko DisCo and Ikeja DisCo each received 100 megawatts (MW), marking a significant step toward stabilising supply in Lagos and its environs. Ibadan DisCo also recorded progress with 30 MW, while Abuja DisCo received 10 MW.
Other DisCos, including Benin, Enugu, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Yola, were yet to receive load as of the time of the report.
Electricity sector officials said restoration was ongoing, with load expected to be progressively increased as system stability improves. Across several locations where supply has returned, residents and business owners confirmed gradual restoration, bringing relief after hours of disruption.
Authorities assured customers that efforts were being intensified to fully normalise power supply nationwide.
