SoE: Dele Momodu urges Tinubu not to undermine democracy in Nigeria

Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to protect Nigeria’s democracy.

In an interview on television on Monday, Momodu expressed disappointment over Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and dissolve the state house of assembly.

Momodu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that Nigeria is “descending into dictatorship” under Tinubu’s leadership.

He accused the president of attempting to intimidate governors and opposition leaders to secure their support for his re-election bid in 2027.

Momodu emphasized the importance of deepening democracy in Nigeria, citing the successes of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo. He warned that undermining democracy would have severe consequences and urged Tinubu to prioritize the protection of democratic institutions.
