South African police have arrested a woman in connection with the killing of Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver, in .
Satlat was reportedly murdered on February 11 after picking up passengers who had requested his service. CCTV footage allegedly shows a female passenger attacking him, while a male passenger seated at the back joined in the assault. Investigators say the victim was strangled, after which the suspects took control of the vehicle and abandoned his body inside the car.
Police later recovered the hijacked vehicle with Satlat’s body inside in .
In a statement, police said: “A female suspect has been arrested following the alleged killing of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West on Wednesday, 11/02. Further arrests are imminent as investigations continue.”
The suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder and car hijacking.
Satlat, who was studying in , was said to be preparing for his graduation in March. His death has triggered outrage and renewed discussions around xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country.
