Tinubu condemns ‘cowardly’ Plateau killings, demands rescue of Kaduna abductees

President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned recent attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing the killings as “barbaric and cowardly” while assuring that perpetrators will be brought to justice.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president denounced the violence in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.

Tinubu described the attacks — including the killing and abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna — as an affront to national values, warning that such acts are aimed at triggering reprisals and escalating violence.

He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible, as well as individuals spreading misinformation capable of inflaming tensions. The president also cautioned sections of the media against framing the attacks as religiously motivated.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu stressed the importance of public cooperation with security directives, including evacuation and relocation measures where necessary.

He also called for improved intelligence gathering and proactive measures to prevent further attacks.
The president urged security agencies to secure the immediate release of all remaining abductees from the Kaduna incident, while noting that two victims have already been rescued.

Tinubu commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their response efforts, pledging continued federal support to both states.

He also expressed condolences to families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, adding that the government is acquiring advanced equipment to enhance the capacity of security agencies to track and neutralize criminal elements in real time.
