President Bola Tinubu has praised the senate for the rapid confirmation of Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, as the new Minister of Defence.

The senate approved Musa’s nomination on Wednesday after thoroughly reviewing his military record and his responses to questions on Nigeria’s pressing security challenges.

In a post on X, President Tinubu thanked the lawmakers for their “expedited confirmation,” noting that Musa’s appointment comes at a “critical juncture” for the nation.

“Two days ago, I transmitted the name of General Christopher G. Musa, our immediate past Chief of Defence Staff and a fine gentleman, to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation as the Federal Minister of Defence,” Tinubu wrote.
