Tinubu names major Abuja highway after Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka

President Bola Tinubu has renamed the Arterial Road N20 from northern parkway to outer northern expressway (ONEX) as Prof Wole Soyinka highway.

This was recommended by the Federal Capital Territory administration.

President Tinubu noted that Soyinka was the first African to win the Nobel Literature Prize, adding that the literary icon has brought honour and fame to Nigeria.

The distinguished playwright, poet and novelist will turn 90 on July 13, 2024.

The President also commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and his team “for what they are doing” in the capital city.

Soyinka was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature, the first sub-Saharan African to be honoured in that category.
