President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday briefly stumbled during a ceremonial march-past organised in his honour at a parade ground in Türkiye, an incident that drew brief attention before proceedings continued smoothly.
The moment occurred as the President joined the guard of honour during the official reception, but it did not disrupt the programme or affect subsequent activities lined up for the visit.
President Tinubu is in Türkiye as part of efforts to strengthen the long-standing diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Türkiye, while exploring new areas of cooperation aimed at deepening a mutually beneficial partnership.
During the visit, the Nigerian leader is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, security collaboration, investment opportunities and broader regional cooperation.
The visit will also feature the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between both countries, covering key sectors of mutual interest. Other high-level official engagements are equally lined up as part of the programme.
In addition, a Nigeria–Türkiye business forum is expected to take place on the sidelines of the visit, bringing together investors from both countries to explore opportunities for economic cooperation and growth.
Senior Nigerian government officials accompanying the President include the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).
The visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships and leveraging international cooperation to drive economic development and regional stability.
